It will be no use whatsoever for Post Office customers. It’s for subpostmasters’ use.

The government is currently holding a public consultation on the future of banking services at the Post Office. This consultation closes on 24 February 2010. This is your chance to tell the Government what services you would like to see in your local Post Office.

Brodick Post Office is leading a campaign to make it as easy as possible for customers to submit their views. Cams will ensure that all branches on Arran have the leaflets issued by the Department of Innovation and Skills to hand out, as well as a letter written by the National Federation of Subpostmasters that gives some information about the consultation.

Cams has also put together a template letter in Word doc format so that customers can tick the boxes, sign it and Cams will send it away on the customers’ behalf.

In June 1990, the first Arran Folk Festival was held and a new Scottish phenomenon was born. In the preceding year, an erstwhile group of enthusiasts had organised themselves; rallying support and commitment from locals, musicians, public bodies and businesses to make the dream happen – and it did!

The festival went into a hiatus and was revived in 2009. The 2010 festival will run from 5 – 13 June and promises to be a belter!

Alex is a prominent photographer on the Isle of Arran. He has a very strong style and is working on a series of Arran landscape photographs that go beyond the traditional postcard shots. He has prints available for sale through his web site and around several hotels and other establishments around the island. He is also available for bookings for event photography.

I can offer web hosting at a monthly rate, variable depending on bandwidth and storage requirements. I can also design basic HTML and CSS sites such as my own Tortis Picks site, WordPress sites with nice one of a suite of templates to which I have the license (such as the Brodick PO site or Lodge St Molios 774) or basic PHP sites with a phpBB 3.0 web forum (such as my own at Celtic Guitar Talk). I can also set up Squarespace accounts and offer tuition, although Squarespace is so easy to use and has such good support and tutorials that anyone using that particular platform could probably work something out for themselves.

When offering hosting, I won’t take ownership of your domain name as so many hosts do these days; I’ll advise you on how to register a domain yourself and give you complete access to the control panel for your hosting package.

If your PC is running slow, it may benefit greatly from an upgrade. Common upgrades are RAM and processors (CPUs). Or, if you’re running out of space, why not install an additional hard disk?
